Outdoors Adventure – Trespass Backpack Review

LPD and I both have Trespass coats that have served us very well over the past few years so when the team at Trespass approached me about reviewing one of their products, I was really excited and just KNEW that a Trespass backpack for our outdoor, geocaching adventures would be a perfect fit for us and couldn’t wait for it to arrive.

The range of casual backpacks to choose from was amazing, but it didn’t take long for one in particular to jump out at me.  I don’t think I own a plain black bag as I’m always drawn to colour and the Deptron Purple 30 Litre Backpack (no longer available) was definitely my favourite. Just perfect for some geocaching adventures. Colourful enough for me, but not too girly so that LPD doesn’t shirk his carrying duties!

As soon as I opened up our parcel and saw our Trespass backpack, I knew I’d made the right choice!

Preparing for our Geocaching adventure was a delight as I was eager to fill up the backpack with lots of goodies to make the trip as enjoyable as possible. It’s times like this when I feel my ‘mumsy’ side really comes out, and I often feel like I’m channeling my own mother! Out comes all the tupperware, the thermal flask, plastic cutlery, sandwich bags… And wonderfully, there was plenty of room in the backpack with two huge main compartments to accommodate all my bits and pieces as well as a smaller front pocket for those little things you want easy-to-hand (phone, car keys etc). In went my GPS device, lots of snacks, refreshments and a picnic rug for good measure.

Hatton Canal Flight

After parking and having a mooch around Hatton Country World, the canal flight beckoned.

LPD and I invited my lovely friend to join us so the three of us happily rocked up at Hatton, a nearby pretty village and nattered away as we navigated our way to the canal path. I found it quite nostalgic, knowing that we’d gotten married in Hatton about a year beforehand… it was lovely to know we were making more happy memories in the area, and I’m sure we’ll continue to do so once our family becomes a little bigger!

LPD and I squinting in the gorgeous Warwickshire sunshine – poor LPD with his arm in the sling!

Not that the bag was overly heavy, but my friend was insistent on carrying it! I suppose LPD and I both weren’t in the best physical state – me being pregnant, and LPD with his broken shoulder strapped up in a sling! With the nice wide padded straps, the backpack easily shares weight evenly, and it also has a clasp you can do up at the front to help with weight distribution too.

My lovely friend happily carrying the backpack for us, little did she know she’d dressed in purple appropriately!

There were several Geocaches that we walked past along the route, but with it being such a gorgeous sunny day, so many other people were around that I didn’t feel like we could stop and have a root around without attracting unwanted attention! We continued to walk, in the hope maybe it would be a bit quieter on the way back.

The Hatton Canal Flight – beautiful in the sunshine.

Soon enough, the gorgeous smell of bacon began to waft over us – we’d come to a canalside cafe. No need for the cafe for us though, as I’d come well prepared. We found ourselves a lovely bench to sit down on and I began unpacking…

The backpack felt a little like a Mary Poppins bag – I kept fishing things out of it, like it didn’t have a bottom.

We soon each had a steaming cup of tea in our hands and were passing around a slightly battered packet of Mini Eggs. I was weirdly proud that I’d packed everything we needed to facilitate a nice cuppa, even remembering to pack a plastic bag to put the rubbish in afterwards!

How do you like your tea? Milk? Sugar? I’ve got it all!

Annoyingly, on the way back, the path was just as busy as on the way there so we didn’t get chance to find any of the hidden geocaches but that’s okay… we’ve got a good excuse to go back! Maybe once Pickle is born, we could even make use of the pub across the canal and treat ourselves to a little beverage… I’m already excited at the thought of even a lager shandy!

Needless to say, I was really chuffed with the backpack’s first outing. I’ve already used it again since to pack QUITE the picnic for a stroll around Coombe Abbey (I used the laptop sleeve as a perfect ‘slot’ to hold some plastic plates!) and I know it’ll become even more useful on our future family outings with Pickle.

When I was growing up, I remember this red backpack my family had. It went everywhere with us – on camping trips, all our holidays, days out… it was always the ‘go-to’ bag and seemed to just fit everything that we needed into it. I think this purple rucksack is going to be my little family’s go-to bag. And I hope when Pickle grows up, every time they see this purple bag being filled, they’ll know we’re about to go and make some really lovely, happy, family memories!

Where next will this backpack go? It’ll help us to make many happy memories, I’m sure.

Yeah, I can’t knock Trespass stuff! I didn’t even realise our coats were Trespass until I started writing this.

Looks fab! I love the colour too! We need to buy a decent backpack, we always realise we need one when we go anywhere like this and end up borrowing my sons school bag!

Ha ha! At least the school bag is getting a lot of use – knowing me, I’d end up losing some important piece of homework or letter if I were to do that!
